BPA and every single one of its replacement chemicals are linked to thyroid damage. Dysfunction. Autoimmunity. Cancer. All of them.
The Entire Bisphenol Family Harms the Thyroid
A 2026 review in iScience examined evidence connecting BPA and its analogues to thyroid disease across three categories: thyroid dysfunction, autoimmune thyroid disease, and thyroid cancer. The review found evidence of harm for BPA, BPS, BPF, and other replacements.
Companies keep replacing one bisphenol with another when the old one gets bad press. BPA to BPS to BPF. The review shows it doesn't matter which bisphenol you pick. They all interfere with thyroid hormone production and signaling.
Why Your Thyroid Is a Target
Bisphenols structurally resemble thyroid hormones enough to interfere with their receptors. They also disrupt the enzymes that produce and metabolize thyroid hormones. Your thyroid controls metabolism, energy, mood, and development. Disrupting it has body-wide consequences.
What You Can Do
Avoid all bisphenols, not just BPA. Skip plastic food containers entirely. Use glass, stainless steel, or ceramic. Don't trust "BPA-free" labels. Check out non-toxic home essentials for bisphenol-free products.
