You are likely drinking Bisphenol A (BPA) along with your favorite iced tea. A 2026 study published in Molecules found that this known endocrine-disrupting chemical is leaching directly into canned beverages at concentrations ranging from 0.15 to 0.94 ng/mL. The researchers found the highest detection frequencies specifically in iced teas and other canned drinks.

The study analyzed various commercial beverages and found that 30% of the samples contained measurable levels of BPA. While water and glass-bottled drinks showed the lowest detection frequencies, canned options are consistently failing to keep this chemical out of your body. BPA is linked to significant public health concerns, yet it remains a persistent contaminant in our food supply chain.

It is time to stop trusting the lining of aluminum cans. The easiest way to avoid this is to switch to glass or stainless steel containers whenever possible. If you are ready to remove these leaching plastics from your home, we have curated a selection of non-toxic kitchen alternatives that keep your drinks and food safe. Ditch the cans and grab a glass bottle instead.
