Endocrine disruptors are leaching into your bottled water. And the type of bottle, water source, and even price all affect how much.
What's in Your Bottled Water
A 2026 study in Anal Chim Acta used advanced testing to detect multiple classes of endocrine disruptors in bottled water. The contamination varied based on bottle material (plastic vs. glass), water source, and even retail price. Plastic bottles leached more chemicals. Glass performed better.
The chemicals detected include BPA analogues and other endocrine disruptors that mimic hormones in the body.
What You Can Do
Choose glass-bottled water or filter your tap water. Avoid water stored in plastic, especially if it's been exposed to heat or sunlight. Use reusable glass or stainless steel bottles. Browse non-toxic kitchen alternatives for safer drinkware.
