The air inside your home carries particle-associated organic pollutants that you're breathing and absorbing every day.

What's Floating in Your Home Air

A 2026 study in Environ Res assessed exposure to organic pollutants bound to indoor particles in homes in Lisbon, Portugal. The pollutants include PAHs, flame retardants, and other organic chemicals that cling to dust and airborne particles inside your house.

Indoor air is typically more polluted than outdoor air. Chemicals off-gas from furniture, electronics, cleaning products, and building materials, then bind to dust and particles you inhale.

What You Can Do

Ventilate your home daily. Use HEPA air purifiers. Dust with damp cloths. Choose low-VOC furniture and paint. Browse non-toxic home essentials for cleaner alternatives.
