The Evidence Is Inside You

Researchers just confirmed what we suspected: microplastics and nanoplastics are no longer just an environmental issue. They are accumulating in human organs, tissues, and fluids. A 2026 systematic review found these particles in everything from human placentas to heart tissue, with direct links to inflammation and functional impairment.

The study analyzed 25 separate research projects involving over 1,500 human participants. The findings are specific and concerning. In cardiovascular research, higher concentrations of microplastics in the blood were linked to adverse cardiac events. In reproductive studies, these particles were found in placental samples and linked to reduced sperm quality. Even your gut isn't safe; fecal microplastic burdens were associated with liver enzyme elevations and gut dysbiosis.

What You Can Control

You cannot filter every particle out of the air or water, but you can stop bringing more plastic into your home. Every time you heat food in a plastic container or use a synthetic cutting board, you are likely shedding microplastics directly into your meals. The most effective way to reduce your exposure is to stop using plastic where it touches your food or skin.

Start by swapping out your plastic kitchen tools and food storage for glass, stainless steel, or solid wood. It is a simple shift that stops the daily cycle of ingestion. You can browse our non-toxic home alternatives to start replacing the plastic in your kitchen and nursery today.
