PFAS exposure disrupts menstrual cycle in women

The connection is clear

Your menstrual cycle is a finely tuned system, and it is being interrupted by the chemicals in your home. A 2026 study published in Reprod Toxicol found that exposure to PFAS is directly associated with increased menstrual cycle variability and changes in bleeding patterns.

Researchers analyzed 952 women and found that higher concentrations of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) were linked to both shorter short cycles and longer long cycles. When your cycle is pushed to the extremes, it is a sign that your endocrine system is struggling to maintain balance against these persistent synthetic chemicals.

Why your home is the source

PFAS are not just in the environment. They are in the nonstick pans you use to cook dinner, the water-repellent sprays on your furniture, and the stain-resistant treatments on your carpets. These chemicals do not break down. They accumulate in your body and interfere with your hormones.

You cannot control the chemicals in the air outside, but you can control what you bring into your living space. Replacing coated cookware and synthetic textiles is the most effective way to lower your daily exposure. We have curated a selection of non-toxic home alternatives to help you swap out the products that are quietly disrupting your health.
