PFAS are in newborns' airways the moment they're born. They're already contaminated before taking their first breath.
PFAS in Newborn Airways
A 2026 study detected PFAS in tracheal aspirates from newborns. These chemicals were in the babies' respiratory tracts at birth, confirming that PFAS exposure begins in the womb and is present from the very start of life.
What You Can Do
Reduce PFAS exposure before and during pregnancy. Filter water. Avoid nonstick products. Browse non-toxic baby products.
