That white food coloring in your candy, coffee creamer, and toothpaste? It's titanium dioxide (TiO2), and it accumulates in your organs.
A Systematic Review of Organ Buildup
A 2026 systematic review in Part Fibre Toxicol examined how titanium dioxide accumulates in organs after oral exposure. The review covered acute, subacute, subchronic, and chronic exposure studies. The conclusion: TiO2 particles build up in the liver, spleen, kidneys, and intestines over time.
The EU already banned titanium dioxide as a food additive in 2022. The U.S. still allows it. It's in candy, gum, frosting, coffee creamers, toothpaste, and supplements.
What You Can Do
Check labels for "titanium dioxide" or "E171." Avoid products that list it. Choose natural alternatives. Browse non-toxic kitchen alternatives for cleaner options.
