Some Concern

What's actually in it

Indoor dust is a chemical cocktail. It contains fragments of everything in your home: flame retardants from furniture, plasticizers from flooring, fragrances from air fresheners, and UV stabilizers from electronics. Many of these chemicals are "emerging contaminants" that aren't yet regulated or even widely known.

What the research says

A 2026 review in J Hazard Mater compiled global data on organic contaminants in indoor dust. The review identified hundreds of emerging chemicals from categories including flame retardants, plasticizers, UV stabilizers, and biocides. Many had never been assessed for human health effects.

You swallow and inhale dust particles every day. Children absorb more because they play on floors and put their hands in their mouths. These unknown chemicals are entering their bodies during critical development periods.

Vacuum with a HEPA filter weekly. Wet-mop hard floors. Remove shoes at the door. Choose products with fewer chemical treatments.
