What's actually in it

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are chemicals that evaporate at room temperature and become part of indoor air. Household sources include paint, cleaning products, air fresheners, new furniture, flooring, and adhesives.

Many VOCs are irritants. Some, like benzene and formaldehyde, are carcinogens. Indoor concentrations can be 2 to 5 times higher than outdoor air, especially in sealed modern homes.
