What's actually in it

BPA (bisphenol A) is a chemical used to harden polycarbonate plastics and line metal cans. It acts like estrogen in the body, which is why it's called an endocrine disruptor. BPA leaches out of plastic when it's heated, scratched, or comes into contact with acidic foods.

Many products labeled "BPA-free" use BPS or BPF instead. Research shows these alternatives behave similarly to BPA in the body.
